WHO WE ARE
Vibrant Data Labs is an impact-first LLC with a mission to increase the collective impact of climate finance by making it easy for impact-first funders and field builders to see where they can help fill critical capital gaps. We build public data tools for the field and provide strategic data science support to our partners to analyze, contextualize, and make sense of the complexity of the climate solutions space and empower evidence-based decisions.
Our team has a background in ecology, network theory, and data science, including advanced research on food webs within a given ecosystem.
This ecological background informs our understanding of the climate finance space. We see it as a highly interrelated ecosystem, and our goal is to increase the collective impact of the ecosystem of climate funders.
HOW WE WORK
Our methodology combines machine learning, natural language processing, and computational statistics with evidence-based inquiry to transform complex data into accessible, visual, and searchable formats and to expose crucial funding gaps across multiple types of capital.
We are a team of curious, collaborative, inquisitive individuals who care deeply about making a positive impact with our collective skills and experience. Our style of work is defined by the following guiding principles:

Stay curious. We understand the importance of having a plan, while also acknowledging that curiosity cannot be scheduled. We create space for exploration and new ideas.

Choose optimism. We approach opportunities with enthusiasm, while also understanding that they may require tradeoffs. We maintain a positive outlook while being realistic.
Be transparent. We value openness and honesty. With our data sets and our relationships, we withhold judgment and ensure all information is on the table.

WHAT WE DO
Our impact strategy is to equip the biggest climate finance influencers with the data and tools they need achieve their mission. We leverage our team's deep background in machine learning, natural language processing, computational statistics, engineering, data visualization and climate capital. We combine these modern teaching tools with evidence-based inquiry to shift climate finance toward a more “collective impact” strategy. We illuminate how and where the impact of many independent players can be greater than the sum of their parts.
We make climate capital flows accessible and actionable through 2 program offerings.
Public Tools
To drive large-scale collective impact, we need to build the public infrastructure of the climate investing landscape. Our public tools map investments across the climate landscape to better see who is doing/funding what and the critical gaps that must be addressed. Our public tools are free and accessible for everyone, funded by philanthropic contributions, built on open-source code, and updated quarterly. It is critical that our public tools are supported by philanthropy to ensure that rigorous climate finance data is accessible, inclusive, and easy to use for everyone. Our public tools users are investors, philanthropists, government agencies, entrepreneurs, and organizational leaders.
